Re: Thursday was my Bird's birthday too.
adnohr, I had always heard that Jan 6, was the Russian Christmas. My daughter Michelle was due on Christmas Day but she was born on January 6. As far as COVID goes I'm ready to give up and throw my hands up in the air. I'm clueless about all the changes that are applied on a day-to-day basis. I think I'm too new on Blogit to know Bird.

Re: FSI makes some good points. I think this fluctuating virus has baffled
Pat, as far as COVID goes I no sooner think I understand what the rules are till they change them. I'm positive I don't understand all of this and I probably never will. I've been researching this virus from the beginning and I probably know less now than I did in the beginning. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to go. Last week they clearly stated that we had all Omicron cases here and now they are saying we have Delta and Omicron. I suppose it depends on who is giving us the information.

Thursday was my Bird's birthday too.
In Québec they call it the Fête des Rois - Festival of Kings - and he was very quick to tell us, well of course!
As for Covid, I agree with Pat_B. The scientests are playing it by ear, giving us information as they discover it, which is all they can do at the moment. It's new for all of us.

FSI makes some good points. I think this fluctuating virus has baffled
the scientists who thought they understood how they work - it's apparently evolved in new ways and the big shots at CDC are fighting the unknown just as we are. As for the frigid cold rooms, I just hope the temps outside moderate very soon.

Re:
C_C_T, the virus is spreading here too. I love our freezer but the backroom is so cold.

I don't think anyone knows quite what to do about the virus. It keeps spreading here, but some do not seem to care any longer. We have a freezer in a storage shed lately condensation has been dripping off it. However, it is now rather colder and the Freezer is dry to the touch. A job to do without one.

Re: Good afternoon
Sassy, I can just imagine how cold it is in your closet. I'm surprised our backroom doesn't have icicles hanging from the windows. The rules for COVID are changing so fast that when I enter a building I ask what the protocol is. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday and I asked the nurse on the phone if there was anything I needed to know before entering the building. The usual was to bring my medical cards and wear a mask. That part I understand but you never know what might be a new rule.

Re:
FSI, I think you are right and I don't need a freezer in the back room. It's beyond cold back there. It feels like you are in an igloo and they are probably warmer than the back room. As far as the rules with the CDC I'm really starting to question what they are doing. After today I think you might be on to something and a COVID rules watcher would come in handy right about now. The quarantine from 10 days to five makes me wonder why it was ever 10???????? I'm starting to have a lot of questions about why things have been done the way they have.

Good afternoon
I have to agree with FSI in that the rules are changing faster than we can keep up with them. As for those cold spots in your house, I too have a few of them. I have a closet that used to be an entryway into my house that was built in 1920. Whoever did the remodel neglected to insulate that area and it is colder than a witch's tit.

It sounds like with the weather, you don't need a freezer in the back room.
The rules are changing daily. It's the big reason why I feel at this point the CDC has lost credibility with so many people and caused so much confusion. We got from 10 days of quarantine to five. Then it's five and a negative test. Jokingly, I've said everyone should hire a COVID rules watcher.
