Re: Sea_Gypsy, that is some memory. Thankfully, you were not harmed.

Your great uncle must have been a really awesome guy.

My first visit to the zoo I remember well. My g-uncle, a professional photographer, was with us and it was captured on film in a photo - the time a bear charged me. Thank God it was a double fence. I remember my dad saying 'get her out of here' (he did't care about the picture) Hahaha.

It is another problem to face. I don't know if animals born in a Zoo might adapt to the environment but I guess it is tough on those who have lived in the wild.

Good Afternoon

I've always felt sorry for the animals in the zoo!  I think the only saving grace for me is that they are well-fed and have medical care when they need it.

Re: You can see it in their behavior that they aren't thriving. It's sad.

I feel that way, too, Sassy. I won't ever go to a zoo.

Re: It's a win-win if the zoo receives the needed funds to keep them.

Otherwise, they can not be placed back into the wild due to being fed and cared for by trainers. I too hope that they will figure out a plan for these wild creatures.

I feel sorry for the animals, trapped in cages - but they are given

good medical care, protected from natural predators, and in some cases there are programs designed to prevent the extinction of endangered species. I'm not sure if there is a win-win situation for wildlife, but I hope we find one soon.
