She was a great actress. The famous "I hate spunk," line involving her and Ed Asner is a television classic.

I loved the Mary Tyler Show every week. Yes she was one that gave me courage to move on and take charge of my own life...something very much frowned upon back in early 1980's.

Interesting. Although I watch very little TV (except for hockey games) I did know who she was.

I always enjoyed her work, her real self outside the roles she played, too.
