Sassy, how do you make your sweet and spicy baked beans?

Re: Re: Re: I made the 15-bean recipe with my leftover spiral ham.

For New Year's Eve, I plan to make sweet and spicy baked beans with a pound of crispy bacon. The kids are making Kielbasa, pierogies, and sauerkraut, so it will all go well together.

Sassy, I love fried potatoes with peppers and onions. How do you make your beans?

Re:

FSI, I would have been more than happy to share ham with you.  I would have given you some cookies too.

Re:

Sea Gypsy, stay warm!  We bought two hams at Christmas because they were such a good price and one went into the freezer.  It's going to be a little while before I want ham again.  I think we will have ham at Easter.  I hope you have a good day.

Re:

adnohr,  I'm glad my leftovers are all gone.  I've shared them with everyone.  Our New Year's will be very low-key.  Our main event will be making dinner.

Re: Good morning, I love Pat's idea.

I make a lot of fried potatoes with peppers and onions. My leftovers are all gone and we wiped out Jessica's leftovers two nights ago when we stopped by her house for a short visit. They are making the New Year's meal and I am planning on bringing a crockpot of beans to bring in good luck for the New Year. As for the lack of snow, I am loving it.

Too bad I don't live close to you. I would've taken some ham.

Thank you. We can use any blessings anyone wants to send. And the same to you and yours. I gave away so much ham there Wasn't enough even for soup! All good. Got another one. it's cold here, windy and rainy. Take care.

I have been doing the same - handing out leftovers to kids and grandkids, then freezing or turning what can't freeze into meals for the doggies. Because of the high level of Covid in our province, all New year festivities have been cancelled, so I expect the leftovers in the freezer will come in handy.

Re: Trying an experiment with some leftovers here - I had a couple big

Pat, I think your experiment with baked potatoes will turn out well!  I love hash browns.

Cold here today, but I doubt if we will see snow. Eating left over Turkey today.

Trying an experiment with some leftovers here - I had a couple big

baked potatoes that didn't get eaten on Saturday - so I peeled them - they stayed solid because with microwave baked potatoes you have to smack them on the counter to turn them mealy. Cut them into hash-brown, mixed in some frozen chopped onions and green peppers, put portions into baggies and stuck them in the freezer. We'll see if they'll cook up as hash browns - or maybe as the basis for potato soup in a few days.
