Pat, they don’t delete trees. One may not be able to view records though.

From Ancestey Support: [One just needs to be a registered guest. Free.]

Family trees

Unless you delete them, any trees you’ve created in your account will remain on the site whether or not you have a membership. As a registered guest, you’ll be able to do the following with your tree:

  • Adding and removing people and photos
  • Adding, deleting, and editing names, dates, and other facts
  • Managing your tree settings

Inviting friends and family to view your tree.

What a shame if all that ancestry gets lost forever because of money. Perhaps if he would pay to have his own account he could then get into hers.

It all depends on what he wants, I know my sister looked through Church records and I think one can find out quite a lot apparently if one is willing to pay. I expect it is not cheap if one wants to dig deep. Of course, I expect it may be different in your neck of the woods.

p.s. Ancestry.com can be accessed at your local library if they have

a genealogy department - in our local library this is a free service.

Good Morning

I wonder what your nephew was looking for?  It seems like a strange call to me if he won't tell you what he's looking for.

Good morning

I have a "free" ancestry.com account that is available to me because I purchased the DNA kit. Although I cannot dig deep due to it not being a paid subscription, which by the way is expensive, it does allow for me to see my DNA matches, including new ones, my DNA story, ethnicity estimates, and I get updates along with the ability to search for possible matches.
