Thanks for this! I have used the word 'lyrical' often, speaking of certain authors, and meaning that their work tends to be poetically lovely. But I never really knew what it meant, only what it felt like it meant to me. Ursula Le Guin comes to mind.
It is the shift from the personal and particular to universal that raises, for instance, adolescent angsty poetry to something lyrical and meaningful.
