Re: Sea Gypsy,

The guy is pretty smart though sometimes socially awkward. He figured it out as I figured he would.

I listed in a group message what was already on the menu, and what each person was taking charge of, and that nothing was settled for dessert. First, to make sure everyone would like the menu options, and then also to give him another nudge.

Re: CCT,

He has figured it out, and says he'll bring a pie. I suggested maybe a couple of different kinds of smallish ones. Everyone has different tastes! I love pecan, and like pumpkin, and also any fruit pies. Charlie doesn't much like fruit pies. I don't know about the others.

Here, you can get a selection of slices of different kinds of cheesecake which is, in fact, pie, and it's hard to go wrong with that!

Re: Goldiec,

Yes, there are certain items that are very 'family' for some of us that others never heard of. Green Bean Casserole seems to be very common, but my mom never made it, and neither do I!

It will all be lovely. Did you suggest to the resistant person a few items from which he could choose so it will be "easier" for him to bring something?

Re: Good Morning

Happy for you all, If anyone brings a loaf of white bread perhaps you could spare a knob of butter.

Good Morning

Ciel, it does sound like you are going to have a feast.  I know Charlie is so happy to have a chicken to cook.  I think for me I have to have stuffing.  I love it.  My grandson always says mashed potatoes and gravy.  My son-in-law would say pierogies with sour cream.  Everybody likes something different.  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Re: sassyass,

Here, family is my son and his housemates--one of whom is my step-grandson--and my buddy from high school. And yes, it is good to pause from the ups and downs of daily life, to remember all there is to be grateful for!

Re: sassyass,

I also don't care much for acorn squash. Butternut is usually the one I go with, but I also like the little buttercup and delicatas. I bake those sometimes with mincemeat in them.

Good evening

In my opinion, Brussel sprouts are underrated and acorn squash is overrated. It seems to be the rage this year. Acorn squash with syrup. Balsamic vinegar and bacon on roasted Brussel sprouts change all the rules where this veggie is concerned. This is a winner all the way around.

Good evening

It won't be Thanksgiving without family and giving thanks.
