I have term for that kind of employer, Annicita
In Canada they can't get away with not paying salaries or commissions. They can delay it by arguing, but eventually the government will force them to pay - they are PERSONALLY responsable, so even if they declare bankruptcy, it will come out of their personal bank accounts or anything they own can be sold to make up the amount required. That's a hassle, but some employers will use it, hoping the employee will tire with delays and legalities and leave it alone.

and then I would be forced to use legal means, which is a giant pain! So far so good.

Shame on that employer! I had one who never did pay me my last commissions and one of my clients never got her refund!

Unfortunately, if it is as serious as what Elie had, that vet
would have to send me to a specialist anyway. They do lots, but blockage operations is not part of it. I have got references for other hospitals than the one I used though, and that's encouraging. Hoping I'll never have to use them. Sine I'm not working, I'm having to check which day it is too. Kinda a fun problem.

I have no problem witth my ex, TAPS. He's rarely in the picture.
I do know what to do with bounced cheques - it wouldn't be the first one they have given me. However, seeing that I no longer work for them, if this cheque bounces there will be dire business consequences for him!! I can make lots of noise when it's needed.

Actually, Goldiec, my ex and I get along very well,
his present wife included. It's just that he lives a distance away so doesn't get to see the kids as often as I do. The kids being so young, and with me being a familiar figure in their daily lives, they tend to be more attentive to me than to him for the moment. I stayed away to be fair and to give him a chance to have their undivided attention. He doesn't usually visit during holidays, etc. but I was happy that he finally got to participate in the disguises and excitement of Halloween.

getting colder here too but a long way from seeing snow if we do at all. Last year was a good year for snow evidently. i did enjoy Halloween night with little ones coming for their treats. It never happens in Australia.

I hate getting checks that bounce. It doesn't happen very often but I never know what to do with things like that. I also never knew what to do with ex-husbands when they showed up. Well, I don't have to worry about that anymore. He died ten years ago.

I have to say from reading your post that you and your EX are not friends. I'm glad you got to see the kids having fun on Halloween. I think sometimes it's best to do it the way you did.
I'm so glad your employer is going to pay you. That was very nice of you to let him pay you over a couple months. I think it's a really good thing that you can stay home now.
Our voting is today but we vote by mail. We mailed ours in early as we do every year. I try to make sure my whole family votes because I think it's so important. Can you vote by mail?
I'm so glad your furry animals are doing good. Are you supposed to have a cold winter? They are saying that our winter will be bad but I think only time will tell.
