I told mine, as I do my grandchildren, that Santa is a real as our fairies and our elves. Mine were always told that parents send Santa money to help out with the gifts - he has just too many to do it by himself.

My sons would probably tell me even today they believe in Santa. We never discussed the subject when they were kids. If they told me they knew Santa wasn't real they might miss out on his gifts and only get ours for yes; I always halved what Santa gave them and what we gave them. It didn't make sense to me that they wouldn't get gifts from us as well as Santa and grandparents etc.

Good thinking Pat. I remember a grown man telling me and one could tell it still upset him. He said he hung his stocking up when he was a boy and when he looked in the morning it held a toilet roll.

That's unique way of putting it. My ex sister in law told her kids from the get go that Santa didn't exist. I think your way is best if you are wanting to let them know. That way the magic and imagination can still be there for them to enjoy.

Good morning
I absolutely love your way of thinking. I also like how you explained the legend to them, adding the magical part. It also saved them from the horror of another kid at school informing them that Santa is not real. Smart parenting.

Good Morning
Pat, I think your way of explaining Santa was an honest way for your children to understand the holiday season.
