Yes that would indeed be nice were poverty to be a distant memory. Its the vested interest of the politicians to keep the nation physically hungry and, therefore, poor. There are then, other forms of poverty: illiteracy, autocracy, dominance, violence all, keep the general public hungry and poor.

Yes, sassyass. Violence for self-aggadizement, of an individual, country or nation is another form of hunger that makes the oppressed the poorer by the millions. Like for instance, the British colonial rule over India mainly, and other Caribbean and African states as well. They were simply the worst kind, not of rulers but of looters.

It should be easier to help others if one does not need help oneself. Sadly this is not so. It would be nice to think that in time poverty was a distant memory.
