Good Morning

I think Home Economics is important for students.  I know when my kids were going to school I made sure they all took office classes and it's helped each one of them.  The boys too!  They all can type and enter data into a computer with no problem.  My grandson took cooking classes and now that he's on his own it comes in very handy.

Re: Pat_B, those life skills should be taught to every student.

My high school also had FFA & 4H. I took sewing and cooking classes, the latter being my favorite.

I imagine high schools don't teach that now.

They used to teach practical things like cooking and balancing a

checkbook in high school, along with other skills that could be used on the job. Our high school had a Future Farmers of America club, an Agriculture and a Home Economics teacher - and cooking and sewing classes. I wonder if they teach any of that now...

Re: adnohr, you're right, most did during that time.

Families helped each other out. We need to get back to those basic connecting skills.

I learned that at home. Most families included more than 2.5 kids at the time, did they not? Older ones helped out, and taking care of the younger ones were part of that.
