Good Morning

I really do think Archie could have cut the flowers himself if he needed them that badly.

And now we're informed by Those Who Know that reducing calories actually tells the body it's in starvation times, so it clings on more tenaciously to fat stores!

Re: I love shopping for fresh vegetables

I expect you know what you are doing Sassy. We have given up chips at lunchtime.

Actually, we had a nut roast today. I would not want it every day but occasionally it is fine.

Re:Pat

Yes, I agree, those who went through the war had a basic ration. Perhaps as kids, it did not do too much harm. I have started to drink orange juice. Cordial is rather too sweet. I bet if some of today's children could go back with you to that store, they would become vegetarians overnight.

Re: sassyass

Yes it is wise to read what is in the package these days. It is surprising sometimes.

Re: adnor

Yes, they keep rising. The lorry drivers are being offered higher wages. There does not appear to be enough for some reason. A cartoon showed a clip of a manager of a soccer team saying we are short of players they are all signing up as lorry drivers. Really it is inflation taking off, house prices have been rocketing fuel is short and the price is following a perceived shortage. I think folk are hoarding, it all makes a difference.. Hope the back feels more comfortable.

Life does gain degrees of difficulty as we go through it. It makes for an interesting experience.

Definitely the wine should be warm, and the butter should be soft! Are food prices increasing there as much as they are here?

I try not to watch calories. Instead I eat in moderation.

I do try to watch out for food that accelerated cholesterol levels though, but butter is not something that I am willing to give up.

I've given up cookies 90% of the time (biscuits in the UK) because

I learned through observation that sugar fuels inflammation and inflammation of the joints causes pain and stiffness. Many years ago I gave up soda pop (especially the cola drinks) after a health publication said it was "poison" to the body due to sugar content and phosphates, etc. As for grocery shopping, this post brought so much to mind of the days I went with mother to the general store where the owner raised cattle and hogs that ended up in the meat case.

I love shopping for fresh vegetables

Asparagus and potatoes are two of my favorites. Wine and soft butter aren't far behind either.

Good afternoon

There is nothing quite like a buttered buttermilk biscuit. Yum!
