I guess if it was on the books today it would be a different story. Land must have been dirt-cheap in that time. Building land here is about at least knocking at a million an acre. I remember we could have bought 5 acres for a thousand pounds once.

Good Morning
Wow! It's amazing how much work goes into an operation like this. I don't blame the town people for being angry about the way the property was acquired. It just feels underhanded to me. As far as romance on the job I can see why there are rules against this type of behavior but it sounds like the rules were not enforced. I can think of one really big problem with romance on the job. If there is a break-up and one of the people is what I would call totally heartbroken and over the edge, there could be a physical altercation that could actually lead to a work-involved shooting. Many people could be injured or killed. It's dangerous to everyone at that point.

Good morning
The janitors usually know all. They are the quiet cleanup masters who see the trash that is left behind and the evidence while it is being played out. They are considered sub-par, so they mostly go unnoticed unless they forget to empty someone's trash or leave a trail of dust.
