Re: Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

C_C_T, I'm surprised they are using crates.  Although I will say at least the crate won't rip like a plastic bag does.

Re: Good afternoon

Sassy let us hope that one day the landfills will be a source of some kind of fuel.

Once a landfill would slowly sink back to a suitable ground level and it was suitable for some purposes. It is not the same of course witH waste plastic in the mix.

Yes, plastic bags are only recyclable through our grocery delivery van. I do try to use the odd one to collect rubbish in and then put in the waste bin. This is supposed to be burned to make some kind of energy.

Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

Well, Goldiec we have been having delivery in thin plastic bags charged for but returnable for recycling. Now that has stopped and goods are delivered in crates which the customer has to empty.

Yes, The trouble is S.G. More resources are being used, obviously. Of course, with everything warming up, it is no wonder. The raspberries were O.K. until this week, and it has rained each day, and off course, they were not picked as early as they should have been,

Re: adnohr

Yes I suspect it was a maggot the fly does settle on fruits that are overripe.

I once saw a man he was picking strawberries and sticking a knife into big black slugs at the same time.

Plastic bag waste is a big problem where I'm at. Those bags fly everywhere.

I think raspberries are my least favourite berry. I was just a child when I found a worm nestled inside one I was about to pop into my mouth. Maybe that is why? Smiled reading your plastic bag poem, and the quick prayer done for poor, discarded Albert.

I love raspberries but have never heard of watery ones. We have lakes and reservoirs drying up here but it’s sll very complicated. Water is a precious resource.

Good Afternoon

I have to say just before the pandemic they had outlawed plastic bags and we had to take our own bags to the store.  Once COVID was among us they brought the plastic bags back and the clerks would not touch cloth bags.  I'm not sure what it will be like in the future.  It's anybody's guess at this point.  On a side note, I love Jam.  I think it's awesome on toast.

Oops! upon reading my comment I used "die" when I meant dye.

few quarts of them, and the color doesn't rinse off.  I've been wondering if one could use the berries to die a white tee shirt, if the color would hold up after washing.  Your story about the plastic bags made me smile - I also wish we could find a good use for them that wouldn't muck up the oceans and streams.

Good afternoon

They will make a wonderful jam. I prefer mine to be seeded. My squirrels would enjoy those fallen walnuts. Not sure if they would appreciate the duds though. As for those plastic bags, they need to be replaced by something better that won't remain in our landfills for 100+ years. It is nearly the perfect time of year for some stew, Irish or otherwise. It is perfect for warming up the bones, and better yet enjoyed by a fire. Have a great day!
