A bit unruly at times but I feel these plants would be too large to lift so we will leave them covered with a mulch.

We leave ours in the ground after mulching them. We have been lucky and have had mild winters. If you think you will get bitter cold weather it is wiser to dig the roots up and store them in a cool dry place. When they shoot in the spring replant not too early. Of course, you can take some shoots and pot then up to make new plants.
