Michael didn't seem to care whether Jessi liked him or not. He needed that check to support his mother. She had sacrificed much for him to get his degree so that he could become an accountant.

One day Jessi overheard him talking with someone about his mother. She could hear the love in his voice. What a difference in what she originally thought. She smiled at him when she walked by. Michael nodded and returned to his work.

Later, he stopped by her desk and asked her out. She hesitated at first, but then decided someone who speaks so highly of his mother can't be all that bad. She agrees to go out with him.

He told her to make sure and wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes because they were going skydiving!

Wow! Amazing to see each writer's different takeoff on this story line.

This was fun. Maybe we can try it again soon.  Thanks everyone for playing!

Re: Re: Good Afternoon

It just so happened that Michael liked Jessi.  The latest novel he was writing had her as the main character.  There was a very detailed description of her in Chapter 3.  He would never want her to read that chapter.  Jessi had a very distinct tattoo on her ankle.  It was a dragon with fire coming out of its mouth.  If she saw that description she would know he was writing about her.  She would go to the boss and tell him and Michael would be fired.

Fun to read - both the post and the comment/post additions.

Besides his limp, she also noticed that Michael had the most beautiful eyes that crinkled upwards at the corners when he smiled. She surmised that his stiff mannerism had to be the outcome of some past relationship issue with either a partner or possibly even a strict upbringing. His guarded stature made her want to slice through his tough hide to see what lie beneath. Perhaps Michael needed someone to show him how to have fun, but Jessi's obsession with numbers made her wonder if Michael would be up to the challenge of who could down the most shots at the bar around the corner after work, once the billing issues were completed. If he was game, Jessi wanted to invite him to those shots and see if she could peel away those boring layers like an onion, reducing him to a Mike or a Mikey by the night's end.

Did not notice the pink writing at the bottom. My bad.

Good afternoon

It's funny how you notice those things when you get past your own negative thoughts and opinions about a person. Pre-judging can cause so much cloudiness about others. Him coming to her may even lead to a future friendship.

Re: Good Afternoon

Goldiec, this is an interesting addition to the story line. How would you include our main character in Michael's thread?

Good Afternoon

As I thought about this I couldn't help but feel Michael was a secret author.  He didn't want anybody to know he wrote romance novels.  He used the people he worked with as characters in his books.  Since nobody knew he was a writer he felt safe writing about them.  The real problem was that he would share very personal details in his books.  He knew he would be fired if his boss found out.

She did learn months later that he had been an undercover agent and had been shot

three times in his leg before he could escape being hauled to safety by a

helicopter. His role had been nerve-racking. He had worked in a foreign office and

had escaped just in time with the required documentation.  Of course, Jessi only

learned the facts after Michael had decided that she was not a double agent.

As he discretely told her, it took a while to accustom to normal office work.

Of course, by then Jessi had decided he was the one.
