My grandfather and son both served in the navy. I never was able to talk with my grandpa about his time in service since he died when I was very young. My son enjoyed the service.

Re: Re: Good afternoon
God bless them. Please thank them for their service for me. Yes, some men truly are on it. How lucky to be stationed in Italy. We too are a military family. We have all branches and wars covered. My hubby John served in both the Navy and the Army. My grandfather fought in WWII. My brother is currently serving in the Air Force. He deployed to Afghanistan a few years ago. Our nephews are Marines who served in Iraq near Baghdad. They are safely home now.

Re: Good afternoon
Sassy - I have two grandsons serving now - one is a gunny sergeant in the Marines, has seen duty in Kosovo, Afghanistan and other locations, the other is an air traffic controller in the Air Force stationed currently in Italy. Some men are on it!

Good afternoon
Back then men and boys fought to enlist. Today, these young guys refuse to even think about enlisting or fighting for our freedom. Men just aren't what they used to be. Thanks for the history lesson.

Good Morning
Pat, that's amazing that your Dad was a munitions specialist. I love history lessons. How old was he when he got out of the military?
