Would that be what we call pole beans here? If so, yes we do. Delicious!

Your garden is so fine and refreshing, and the stick beans will come in handy when Archie comes to claim his gift, Lol.

Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

No Goldiec it has not been a good year for string beans, I expect a heavier crop later if it rains more and is cooler.

Re: Good Afternoon Sassy

Sassy at least it is green, green, green as I look out of the windows. A bit different in winter.

Re: Ciel

Well, you are more tomato country.  Once we could rarely grow toms outside what a difference climate change makes.

Re: I used to use 8-foot poles stacked like a tipi or pyramid and plant pole

I wonder if it was cooler in those days Pat. Years ago we used to pick bucketfuls of long slender beans These days if one is not careful they soon run to seed. That was a good trick growing the cucumbers. Would you believe 8ft canes are ten shillings each or 50 pence each and you would not believe how weedy they are?

I used to use 8-foot poles stacked like a tipi or pyramid and plant pole

beans at the foot of each one, let them vine their way up. Cucumber vines in the center beneath the structure made good use of the space. I was at the time trying to teach my kids how to garden, but they preferred to run to the park and hang out with their friends or play baseball. Your photo is so inviting and lush!

Good Afternoon

I love this picture!  We do grow green beans.  It's one of our favorites but we didn't grow many this year.
