Re:
Kabu, there's no clue outside what might have happened. It was so scary though. I've never heard anything like that before. My daughter thinks it must have been a coyote but I'm not sure what it could have been.

One year I was visited quite often by someone's barn cats. I am nervous of cats outside here because of all my birds and little animals. there was a coyote family around that year as well. one night I heard the cat scream in such a terrifying high pitch wai, and coyote yips at the same time; l hid my head into Wiley and cried. We didnot find anything after and the cat was gone...only to be told months later the cat was living in a barn further up the road. It must have been the cat that scared off the coyote family.

Re: It might be best to keep the little people indoors.
Sassy, that is amazing that they come to eat while you are outside. I hope we find out what caused all the trouble last night.

Re: Good afternoon
Sassy, we have a birdbath too. It's been so hot that I'm sure one of our crew is drinking out of the fountain.

Corbin, those heavy-duty fans are nice. Do you have air in the house?

It might be best to keep the little people indoors.
Our neighbor's cat killed one of our visiting pigeons. John had a mess to clean up. During the night we have raccoons, possums, and a variety of other wildlife. Last night while we were sitting at our picnic table, three raccoons came to eat the hotdogs and marshmallows that I put out for them.

Good afternoon
It is hot and humid here but my squirrels and chipmunks are still running around the yard. The squirrels get a drink from the birdbath. I have their feeders set up under trees where they can stay cool.

Re: Re:
I have a large screened in Porch, with ceiling fans. But the best thing I have is a 24 inch heavy duty fan on the floor aimed right at me!

Re: That haze you see in the air is probably smoke from the west coast
Pat, our kitchen window does have a screen but I still thought about shutting it. I think I'm going to wait for Roy to get home and then if he comes across anything suspicious he will tell me. The sounds we heard were so unnerving. This haze is so odd. In the back, it looks like it's clearing up somewhat but in the front, it's still very hazy.

That haze you see in the air is probably smoke from the west coast
fires that has made it into the jet stream overhead. It was pretty thick in this area too until we had an overnight rainstorm. It's still a little hazy here, though. I imagine you'll find the evidence of what happened in your back yard if you wander out there this morning. The sounds of a cat courtship are sometimes frightening, but there are all kinds of furry hunters who own the night in our neighborhoods. I hope that open window has a screen over it.
