I'm sure that's the intent, but the translators who do the subtitles might do better to modernize the dialogue less obviously current. It's also a problem when they choose terms and idioms that are so impossible for the Chinese to have used in those times--like referencing someone's Achilles' heel, or a Gordian knot.

Good Afternoon
I admire actors and the parts they play. They are so skilled in playing a believable character part. I felt so bad when they closed down the theaters during the pandemic. All of those actors were out of work. Slowly everything is getting back to normal. I've recently started watching a show called "Downtown Abbey" I almost feel like it is a play. It's different than other shows I've watched. I never realized that each family had many servants and they had different personalities that had to find a way to survive day to day living and working.
