I agree with Goldiec. Start your own group. Put feelers out there. Contact members from the old group. Put group info on message boards at bookstores. You can do this!

Sassyass, I also loved listening to my grandma's stories - of course her stories came from really way back when, it was the pioneer era, before electricity and phones got out to the homesteads, when plowing was done with horses, before there were automobiles - seems unreal to look at the internet, the "supply chain" and frozen dinners prepared in factories, etc... I really enjoy your work and am grateful for your encouragement.

Goldiec, I have learned much from Blogit writers over the years - there are any number of people here who come from different experiences and perspectives, it's all good! Btw, nothing wrong with copying and pasting, especially from Facebook posts, just so long as you give proper credit. Facebook is 90% made up of copying and pasting memes, jokes, and photos from other sites.

You're on point. History is lost when our elders pass unless we take the time to listen to their stories. I used to enjoy listening to my grandparents talk about days gone by. I now love reading your stories of the past. 
History teaches us so much and it is valuable for those life lessons that we tend to repeat up until we are told and taught otherwise.

Pat, maybe you could start a new writing group in a different place. I think all things happen for a reason and maybe the universe wanted you to move to a new spot. I have a feeling this is all playing out the way it's supposed to. I believe you have a right to feel whatever you feel in the moment. My thought is to not look behind you but instead in front of you and this could be a blessing for you! That being said I must say I do not see you as being old in any way. Anyone that can write like you has a gift to share with the world. If I lived closer I would love to join your group. I never turn down a chance to write and if the place has coffee we would be on a roll. There are so many from Blogit that I would love to see in your group.
