The bears are amazing and I love the picture of Charlie with them in his back pack. They all look as though they are longing for a new home and the love they once knew!

Re: Pat,
What a wonderful opportunity, to be part of such a grand and personal project!
We are so used to being exposed to history and events as statistics, to body-counts of disasters, to numbers of people affected. Big Business, government, and the Powers That Be think in these terms, discounting the individual, the personal experience and values. This kind of book counters that, reminds us what it is to feel and experience as a person. It is so important to have this perspective!

Re: sassyass,
I got the chair at the local Renaissance Festival. Vendors at those fairs go all around the country, and this is the kind of operation that can probably be found at all of them. I will check on the name of the company, too--you might be able to do mail-order. They offer them in tough canvas and in a kind of mesh which is the kind I have. It lasts better, doesn't fade or show wear, and air flows through it!

That is quite a collection of bears.
We used to have a dog named Studley when I was in the third grade. As for your swinging porch chair, I am jealous. That would be the ideal reading spot for me.

Bumped into a former co-worker friend at the store a few days ago,
first time I've seen her in a year. I called her a few minutes ago to catch up. Turns out she's very excited about a research project she's working on - delving into her family's history. Several generations back in Virginia they were emancipated following the death of their owner and lit out for the free state of Illinois where they settled and founded towns and churches while this territory was part of the western frontier. There's a world of information to cover, and she's interested in letting me help with it when she's ready to organize and write it all down. Amazing!
