BC-A, it's still not legal to have fireworks here. People do have them though and set them off all the time.

Annicita, that must have been rough trying to keep your son's dogs calm during the fireworks. I feel sorry for animals that are terrified during the fireworks. I'm sorry that you had such a hard Saturday and Sunday at work. I hope you get some rest and enjoy your meals. Stay cool! It was 93 here today and that's a little warm for me.

C_C_T, I've been taking my medicine and doing my exercises but I can only do a few. The doctor said slowly I would be able to do more.

Sassy, your poke cake sounds delicious. I put celery and miracle whip in my macaroni salad along with lots of spices and apple cider vinegar. I do not put red peppers in it though.

They are now inspecting all the condo buildings in that area. It seems those condos have been having problems for a long time. Maintenance personnel quit because of the way management didn't want to deal with the problems.
My son and his family went to Fort Lauderdale for two nights. I watched the dogs when I wasn't working. The oldest dog can't handle the fireworks at all. He has to be in his kennel before the fireworks start and stay until after they finish. I couldn't even get him to go outside to go to the bathroom before they started. Every time I left the room he got petrified and tried to get out of his kennel.
It was a hard day at work Saturday and Sunday. Saturday for two stores I had almost 400 cases. Sunday I had four stores and I handled about as many of them. Sooo tired and aching today.
I got up and started making salads as I cooked and ate my breakfast. I then made some black bean tamales. So yummy!

Good morning
Did I hear you right? Something about leftover macaroni salad??? Yum! It only gets better from sitting. I do believe that besides the poke cake that I plan to make later, I am grabbing the ingredients for some macaroni salad. I put chopped-up red peppers in mine aka pimentos. Do you add them too?

I watched neighborhood fireworks. A police car ride by flashing lights. I guess on patrol because fireworks are legal now in New Jersey.

Pat, I love melons too. They really are refreshing on a hot day. I think part of the reason I couldn't sleep last night was that I was worried about all the families waiting for news of loved ones. It is such a tragedy. I do not see this ending well. I hope you have a good day. Stay cool!

Like you, I've got my fingers crossed about the collapsed condo
in Surfside - hoping they find everyone so that families will at least have some closure. On very hot days, I find melons very cooling, and a nice slice of watermelon would go very well with your other special dishes.
