I had not been following this story, but decided to check it out, and
began at the beginning. "Fade Out" is so well-developed and on target, it's very satisfying to read. Your characters are almost always people I've met on the job or elsewhere, the attitudes toward retirement are -- what can I say, you nailed it! Very strong use of dialog to tell the story. I can see this as a film. Nice work! Two thumbs up.

Good Morning
I think Nick is up the creek without a paddle. He needs backup but I'm not sure who that would be. If I were Nick I'd find a way to get out of there and take off for parts unknown. I'd never look back. It feels like they are all being held against their will since they can't leave and their cells are being taken away. This is a very grim situation. They should never have been involved in this operation. There are always consequences for what we do. They showed no remorse for the part they played in destroying lives.

I did wonder how you were going to wriggle your way out of this. Nick has to make a good decision. He needs a Gatlin gun.
