Re: Aba brother
Glad that I could do justice to the understanding of the poem. Your comments are from your heart ❤️ and I admire your deep sensitivity. No wonder, you're a poet of stature yourself.

Most soldiers have endured a pretty miserable time. Sometimes memories are hard to conceal. The poet tries to imagine or feel the aura that emanates from his encounter.

Aba brother
What a stunning poem and such an informative post. Standing in a Veterans' Cemetery does leave one with that feeling. It's like they are all there, watching, close but distant, yet they are not. Or are they? Many of our vets here have been treated shabbily and deserved better but they were a silent voice to many. Now it is getting better for them. "A poet's detachment, caring while not caring" - quite the test. Excellent and thank you!

When Trump took over as President one of his first things was to Re-Vamp the Veterans Administration. A major success!

Good afternoon
This is such a wonderful tribute to veterans. They understand suffering better than anyone. They face so many demons once returning home. PTSD, injuries, and odd afflictions are only half of their story. Your honesty allows others to understand many of their issues, trial, and tribulations.

I am amazed that myself a stranger in a land so far from where I was born and lived most of my life, that here I have found genuines love and care about my person from people unrelated to me so that I am not worried about my furute or how I can manage alone. I am not alone and this both humbles me and relieves me. Humans can be the best and the worst.

It's a theme that has endured throughout time and will probably continue to endure until the end of time.
