I suppose Isabel still feels she loves George. It is a kind of tragic emotion built on illusions. If she had never met George she might have been content with anyone.

Good Afternoon
Pat, I wish abused women could read Isabel's story. From the outside looking in, we can see what is going on and have a pretty good idea of how it's going to end. From Isabel's view, she has painted herself into a corner. I feel sorry for Phoebe because she's on the outside looking in too and she knows what kind of a man George is.

I would love to join a book club with you if we lived closer. Your stories open up readers' minds to endless possibilities. You also have that special way of making me feel like I am with the characters inside of the story.

I have to agree that George would be furious no matter what she does. Her thinking is not clear. She has all the marks of an abused woman who is blaming herself, and that is a sad reality. She could have lived on and happily had she have given Paul a chance and put George in her rear-view mirror.
