I just about can get into my 32" trousers. I hope to eat healthier in slow motion.

I admire those who can.

I so agree with you!

Re: Annicita,

Sounds like you need to fire that doctor, if you haven't already done so. Diet should not be punishment!

Re: Sea Gypsy,

True enough, not every plan works for every body!

I couldn't handle the diet the doctor put me on. He kept criticizing my choice to be a vegetarian. I felt he was condescending. So I choose to do the diet that I know I can stick with instead of something that makes me ill at the thought of it.

No tips. Portion control and exercise. Mediterranean diet is what my doc recommends for me. I don’t eat enough as a rule. My stomach is very sensitive. I could stop a few snacks though. There is nothing I would enjoy as subbing for what I do eat. :) I’m glad this meal plan works for you. I would feel very ill eating solely bacon and eggs for breakfast, for example.

I've quit sweets for the most part - not to lose weight but because

sugar causes inflammation and inflammation in joints is painful. It hasn't been difficult to break that habit of grabbing a little square of Hershey's chocolate from time to time, and the only sweets I eat now are fruit / juice. I've long considered sodas - especially cola drinks - as a kind of poison, so that was out of my diet at least 10 years ago. Your food program sounds very healthy and I hope you feel like a million bucks as you work with it.

Re: Re: Goldiec,

Ciel, sometimes I put a lime in with my water but lately, it's just been plain water.  We have bottled water.  I can taste the difference between tap and bottled water.

Re: Re: You are right. Mercury is a danger.

Italian dressing and cherry tomatoes are delicious. We also eat beefsteak tomatoes on toast with mayo. It is a Pennsylvania thing.

Re: Kabu,

Where I shop for food, they give me a discount on gas for every dollar spent. But this past year, I have not driven very much!

Re: Kabu,

That sounds very good and wholesome! I no longer sweeten lemon in hot or cold water. Well, maybe just a wee bit in hot.

Re: sassyass,

Gotta watch the tuna and some other fish for mercury content. My doc advises not to eat it more than once a week.  I also like tuna salad, mixing in little salad shrimp to the standard recipe. When my mom got into diet mode, she experimented with Italian dressing subbing for the mayo, and that was surprisingly tasty! Then she added some cherry tomatoes, too, now that I remember it.

Re: sassyass,

Ah, yes, I like to mix avocado with cottage cheese! Cottage cheese, though, has carbs. I imagine they vary with the different fat-contents available, but I haven't researched that.

Re: Goldiec,

I can have coffee and tea, and will sometimes flavor my water with lemon or lime, or just a bit of one of those fruit flavor things that come in little bottles--a very little goes a long way! Also, a little juice from regular frozen concentrates: I sometimes keep one in the fridge in a jar with a lid. I have come to appreciate water! But the tap water here is okay, not full of chlorine flavors. I rarely buy bottled water, but would if the tap stuff wasn't good for drinking. I remember turning on the tap in Cleveland, and feeling like I'd been transported to the local public swimming pool!

Even diet sodas are diet-killers, because of the sodium, not just the sugar subs which are often not great anyway. So finding ways to love water is a pretty good health strategy.

Re: Good Afternoon

water is by far the best. In the winter I like a hot lemon and honey drink, but water perhaps with some sugar free orange juice in it is the best.

I went shopping today. The cost of food and gas is likely to put me on a diet soon. I never needed to think about weight unless it was to try to put some on my skinny frame but those days are gone.

Good Afternoon

Ciel, I'm wondering what you drink on this program.  A writing friend of mine has sugar and she always drank Dr. Pepper but she can't drink that now so she only drinks water.  I do not have sugar diabetes but I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can.  This week it's been coffee in the morning and the rest of the day water.  Water is fine but I'm wondering is there anything else that would taste good?

Re: Good afternoon

I forgot to add that I eat guacamole and cottage cheese almost daily.

Good afternoon

Good luck with your dieting plans. My only tips that seem to help are that I eat plenty of tuna & chicken salad, cod, crab, arugula, tomatoes, lemon, olive oil, and I use lots of fresh herbs. My downfall is that I like a few cold beers after work that add to my calorie intake.
