Ah, the contrary and contradictory nature of the adult/parental human!

After years of being punished severely for diversions from the truth, when we were moving--had left the old house, and were staying for 6 weeks down the road a couple of townships away--Mom went crazy over my stupidity when she sent me to the library to get a new card, and they wouldn't give it to me because I was no longer living in that town. Apparently, I was supposed to lie about my current residence. I was 10. What did I know about how the world works?

Yes; My mother as well. And she didn't know who I was. She would call out the names of her three sisters and then my sister and finally my name. But it gave me time to disappear,

You've got to remember it though.

Good Afternoon

I believe I've heard all of these.

It was once the normal. Today it is considered toxic

I have heard all of these one, two punches before, but not coming from my mother. Her favorite line was letting me know that I was just like my father. I never knew him, so how true it was I will never know.

None of those really sound like my Mom but I can't think of anything she would have said instead that I would know how to spell.  Her quips were quite often in Czech.
