I too love soups. I still love tomato soup and a toasted cheese sandwich. usually I make a crock pot of meat or chicken with stock and all kinds of vegetables. it could be a Stew but I leave it fluid enough to eat with a spoon. By putting it on in the am I can enjoy it that night and the rest goes into the freezer.

I love soups. I like to make one that has lentils, different beans, rice and lots of spices with onions, tomatoes and poblano peppers.

Re: Re: Re: Goldiec,

I'd put in some bok choy, especially the leaves. Regular green cabbage works, too, if you prefer it. Also, I would add some shredded carrot, and whatever vegetables I have handy. I've had it with a few pieces of broccoli, too.

I suggest get just one package of pot-stickers unless you know which ones you like. You only need one or two per serving. And the longer they are in the soup, the bigger the noodle part gets! You might be able to find actual frozen wontons. The shu-mai dumplings have a lot more filling than noodle. I like the chicken and water chestnut ones.

Re: Re: Goldiec,

Ciel, when I was young the soup I usually made was can soup.  I didn't have a clue!  That of course was a long time ago.

Re: Re: Goldiec,

Ciel, I've seen frozen pot-stickers in the freezer section at our store.  I could get a couple packages what else would I put in my soup? I do have chicken broth.

Re: Kabu,

That's kind of what a single eater has to do, unless one is willing to have three meals in a row of it! Of course, changing it up a bit each time keeps it interesting.

Re: sassyass,

Ooh! I love crab bisque, or real crab mixed into any seafood soup. I got a cooked Dungeness crab at the grocery store recently. They take a deal of cleaning, but I got about 3 meals of crab out of it!

Re: sassyass,

I don't do gumbos much, but there is a canned one which I'll add seafood to, and lemon juice to spark it up. I think it's a Chunky from Campbells.

Re: Goldiec,

Oh, the pot-stickers or shu-mai, the little round ones, I get in packages of frozen ones. They are more complex than wontons.

The ginger/miso broth would probably work well, or I'd use low-salt chicken broth.

Re: Goldiec,

When I was in college, first cooking on my own, I was really into beef and veg soup, and I got my ingredients--the beef, anyway--at the local deli. So, started with beef broth or stock, and then at the last of the cooking, added the chopped up rare beef, so it didn't have all the flavor cooked out of it. I had yet to learn about pot roast!

I usually make a soupy stew in the crock pot with either chicken or beef. Then I throw in vegetables and a tin of stock and herbs and spices on inclination. It never tastes the same. I put it into one person serves into the freezer and mix it amongst whatever is still there. When I take one out it is a surprise what I will be eating.

My favorites are crab soup and potato soup. My hubby loves hamburger soup. It is much like vegetable soup, but with chunks of hamburger and the addition of broccoli, corn, green beans, and peas beside the usual suspects.

I love Trader Joe's and I love most soups. The only one that doesn't appeal to me much is a gumbo-style soup with sausage.

Good Morning

Ciel, I usually make a soup that cooks all day.  I love chicken noodle soup but I do like beef and vegetable soup too.  I'm wondering if potstickers taste the same in wonton soup?  I love it and I have no idea how to make it?
