Good Evening
Sam really knew how to push the teacher's buttons. My uneducated guess was that he was not interested in school. There may have been problems at home too.
On the flip side, I don't think the class was boring as long as Sam was present. I'm sure some students found him annoying when they were trying to study.

Mr. Milers named him with an appropriate title. The village idiot is soft compared to what he could have called him. Although, I do feel that teachers can leave a mark on a kid that lasts for life.
