Ah, what could have been. Yes, people did recover from polio sometimes. I had an older SIL who had it bad and recovered. Was in an iron lung for a while. Good story.

I am amazed how he overcame all his difficulties and went on thriving. A debilitating illness, being so poor, drafted into the army but turning that into the best thing that happened to him and having a successful and happy marriage. love this story.

First love is so terrible, I suppose emotions awaken that sleep deep within. Once it was so easy one just fell for a person in a similar position and had no torment.

I love dated stories like this.
Things all work out for a reason. She chose the wrong guy, but it is too late and there are no redo buttons. Dell got a woman that he deserved, and it is great that he and Patty are still friends.

Good Morning
This is the way the world works. I've seen this many times. I read a book once about a guy that had a summer fling with a young girl and thought she was his everything. When summer was over he was heartbroken when the girl went away. In the middle of the fall, he met the real love of his life and they got married and were very happy. I love that story. It was happy at the beginning of the story. In the middle of the story, it was sad. In the last chapter, he was as happy as could be. It is life.
