You can apply any story to today. Another might be Jane Eyre. Charlotte Bronte had an early feminist stance. How would she respond to feminism today?

I read that The Hobbit and the subsequent Trilogy was a metaphor for WW II and I can't get it out of my mind. So, to transpose the stories for today is difficult for me. I would have to say no but it all depends on one's political point of view, perhaps.
