Christine,

Congrats.  I really enjoy my smartphone.

Re: Re: Goldiec,

My phone is not a smartphone but it can connect to the internet.

Re: sassyass,

Yeah, I have Charlie to show me the ropes--like how to make a call on this thing, or how to delete a contact I haven't been in touch with for years...

Re: Kabu,

Texting is tricky--fingers wider than keys! I don't plan to do much of it. Nor will I have it out every time life gets quiet. Quiet is good!

Re: Goldiec,

I no longer know what anyone means by a regular phone. Is it a land-line? A flip phone, like early Star Trek tech?

These days a lot of people go for the phone and plan with monthly payments, but I paid in full for a relatively inexpensive smart-phone, and the monthlies will only be for service and taxes and that sorta thing. It connects to wifi, has a pretty good camera built in, gets the apps I want as well as offering tons of them I don't. This one also has a long battery life and a fast recharge time. These are all features I particularly like.

Re: CCT,

And plant-gazing!  I just got a couple of chenille plants in hanging pots. I haven't seen them around for ages!

Re: Pat,

Yes, it's good to have the emergency phone on you, and there are simple plans that are pretty much just for that. There's a company called Cricket, I think is for that.

I have to laugh over your admission. We too have just received our first Smartphone just a few months ago. We have carried around a Tracphone and a flip-phone for the past decade. We are still learning the many tricks of using the updated model successfully. Luckily, we have three daughters who know all of the answers.

I think you are already ahead of me and have a smarter phone than mine and probably less expensive as well. Good for you. I do text a lot with my phone; make a lot of mistakes too.

Good Afternoon

I just have a regular phone.  Are these more expensive than those?

No sorry, but good luck star gazing.

I've been thinking of coming into the cell phone age myself.

Once had a flip phone. Discarded it after a month. But it seems nobody can take a step these days without their phone & mid-conversation they'll pull out the phone and gaze at it. Still, in case of a power outage or something it would be good to be reachable.
