It exists, and like you said, unless you're rich; the financing or credit charges could be used for marital needs. However, a story could use the shock value.

re your question, sometimes when I was with my Father as a young woman we were mistaken for an older man with a youngster. Dad and I were so close, so in tune with each other was what they mistook for something else.

Whoa...that is an astounding amount for one little old ring.
I have heard of go big or go home, but not regarding romance, weddings, and rings. $9,000 + is overkill for a piece of jewelry in my opinion unless you are royalty or a celebrity.
