Our kids never stole anything that I am aware of, but I remember a few kids from when I was in high school who did, and they thought that it was cool. The thought of it petrified me.

many things. Sometimes it is a right of passage way into a group.

Children who steal do it for many reasons. Poor impulse control, trying to fit in with peers, no job, but lots of wants and needs, hunger, no moral support at home, low-self esteem, no understanding of the repercussions, etc...

It goes to mine. We see it all the time when two kids fight. "Mine."

"No, mine."
