No good being a hero for the sake of a nut. I do wonder why they stay when there are such frugal pickings. Perhaps some kind lady secretly puts a dish of nuts out for them.

I read this earlier and started a comment that reminded me of a squirrel many years ago at the house where my sons grew up. Next door neighbor had practically made a pet of him and he thought everyone should like him that well. When I was first accosted by him, I was bringing in a brown grocery sack of items from the grocery store. He came running at me from across the way in a manner that frightened me. I hastened inside but he sat on the porch at the door so long I got concerned. I called my neighbor and he laughed. He said that whenever he went to the store he brought back grapes for the squirrel and fed them to him one at a time and that the squirrel knew that a brown grocery bag had grapes in it for him.

Tomcat means business. Paladin had better watch his back with that vicious puddy tat. As for food, those squirrels need not look any further than just below the ground where they bury a variety of nuts all over the place. I have heard though that they forget where they stashed them. We find them all over the yard after a good rain due to the nuts only being buried as deep as their little paws and claws allow.

Good Morning
Oh my! Paladin is definitely afraid of Tomcat as he should be. I'm starting to see just how smart Paladin is because he didn't go near the trap. That was very wise on his part. I think he should stay far away from any tree that Tomcat is near. There's no such thing as being too cautious. Paladin is not liked in the old neighborhood and I doubt anyone would come to his rescue if he had to do battle with Tomcat.
