Yes, skunks are predators of garden pests, slugs too. They're  friends of the organic gardener.

Years ago a neighbor's bratty little six year old was running across

their yard when a skunk crossed his path. Aggravated that it stopped when he came along, he kicked it. Big mistake. His mama had to make a run to the store for half a case of tomato juice for a bath, but he was still a little stinker for a week or so...
