Re: CCT,

Here this breed of dove is an invasive species, so they are not protected by law. But we will not be serving what in NYC they called Brooklyn Squab.

Re: adnohr,

But it doesn't last for very long--already gone, our 'snowmageddon' down here!

Re: TAPS,

I dare to dream that we are nearing the end of deep cold if not deep snow!

Re: Annicita,

Florida, right? It would be quite something if you got snow!

Re: Sea Gypsy,

It's yo-yo weather, typically-- You can never put any clothes away for the season!

Re: Kabu,

There is plenty of wild bird seed available, and when things dry out, I will put out water, too. I think these sillies will be okay as long as we dont' get those abyssmally low temps again! Right... it starts with a pair...!

Re: Goldiec,

It is pretty much all gone now, my stairs are clear, the icicles didn't last out the day. It does seem most of the deep snow was further north and higher altitude than here. It's cold again tonight, and a few flakes are in the air.

Re: Pat,

Well, the snow lasted a day--even the drifts on my stairs were totally gone by this morning when I went out!  But we are promised a little more tonight, and over the weekend. It's good, we need the water! Most of Colorado is in some degree of drought.

I think it is becoming more and more how parenting is these days, that tasks are no longer gender-locked.

I suppose the young birds are safe until they leave the nest. A very precarious lifestyle. Years ago Ciel some folk would tie the legs of young squabs as they were called. You can guess the rest. I think it would be punishable today, well hopefully.

Beautiful photos.  I am glad that we don't have all of that here now.

I am not missing the snow at all.

That is a lot of snow. I did notice that about Colorado when I was there. The weather jumps around quite a bit, even throughout the same day! Stay warm. Here it's cold and windy.

silly birds. It is too early you may have to suplement their feed so the little ones survive. I thought I had just one pair of doves but there are 8 doves coming to the feed we put out.

Re: I enjoy reading about your doves, the way they take turns with the brood

Wow!  You did get a lot of snow!  Your steps look dangerous!  Stay warm and safe.  My one friend near Denver got 2 feet of snow.  Ciel, for as long as I can remember I have loved icicles.  I think they are beautiful.  I see you have some nice ones.

and all. Wouldn't it be nice if human couples shared the load that way... I keep seeing the monster snowfall news on the weather channel and thinking you must be packed in, with 8", don't know what they'll do with 24" in Denver and almost 4 feet in parts of Wyoming. Yikes!  Guess I won't whine about a bit of rain around here.
