I perfectly understand your awkward feelings and disinterest in some thing like this. My sons at your age back then would probably felt the same. There was no such thing when I was young thankgoodness.

Sophomore year for guys is an awkward year I think. My grandsons really started learning about dances and get-togethers and they grew from it. It’s not easy for guys irvgirks at that age.

The Mixers do not sound like fun to me. I can understand why you never went back. Fred was lucky he had your Dad to drive him home. I think you are right and Fred's Dad probably thought he owed it to your family to drive you home.

I have witnessed some very sexual dancing in my time, but I have never heard it referred to as, freak dancing, but I have to say that the term fits well since dancing like that in public is seriously disturbing.

At a younger age for whatever reason, the elementary school wouldn't let a boy a year older to be a friend of mine. He was moderately slow that might be considered prejudice today
