Re: Those days really were special times.
Most brick and mortar stores are gone now. It is so sad. I miss walking through and browsing.

When Michelle was little we used to walk up to Southgate and I would buy her a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream. I loved those days. The store is long gone from our area. Michelle was only about 3 years old but I loved spending time with her.

Re: Re: Re: That sounds like me, Sea_Gypsy.
I used to have three little girls in tow wherever I went. I miss those days when you could actually shop in malls and other stores besides Walmart. Thanks for taking me back in time for a minute.

I remember that store! We had one in a shopping center that no longer exists much like the store. I would shop and afterwards stop at the lunch counter to eat a chocolate sundae or drink a Coke.

Re: Re: It takes me back to a time when my mom and I bonded over food and talks
Takes me back to a small town where my mom walked andvtalked andcshopped, taking her 3 little kids along. We would stop at a counter just like that for a treat sometimes.

It was during my teenage years, so I had raging hormones and the need for a strong personality to give me direction.

This was another aspect of the time when the minimum wage was
about $1 an hour. If time travel were possible, we'd invest a month's pay from today in shares of 1980s computer stock...

Of course, when they first came here a lot of small traders bemoaned the fact.
Now they have gone and a cheap price store was opened. I expect it is closed down now with the virus rules
