Sassy, how cool that this is when you met John. Your crew must have been awesome.

It was at this time that I met John. He said that he would have bought it and treated his guys in the squadron who were on det at our base at the time.

Sassy, just thinking about that sub in the deli makes me hungry. It was brilliant that you came up with a plan for the 6' sub roll. You are always thinking on your feet. You came up with the best solution ever. I bet that baseball team was happy when they saw that sub.

Re: Re: Re: Yes, Goldiec, I did. From 84 to 86.
I was a deli manager at Safeway. I was only 19, but they sent me to Tahoe and Sacramento for training. That is where my sub artisan skills came into play. While learning how to order my deli loaves of bread, I accidentally ordered a sub roll that was like 6' long. I feared that it would go to waste and that I would have to write it off as a loss. My crew and I came up with a clever way to present it in the deli case by fully loading it with the cheeses, meats, and veggies hanging out for show, and then we placed it on a decorated foil-wrapped sheet of cardboard. It was purchased by a baseball team not long after we had wrapped it.

Re: Re: I know that you watch her. Did you see this yesterday?
Sassy, I have the show on my DVR recorder but I haven't watched it yet. It sounds like a really good one. I love Miss Brown's shows. As soon as I read your post the first thing I thought of was your subs. They always sound so good! Did you work in a deli?

My mom and I had never heard it called a charcuterie before, but we recognized it as something that we had done in the past. Your board is similar to the ones that we make. You gotta have pepperoni and olives. I have to laugh at your comment regarding my subs. The boards feature all of the ingredients of a deconstructed sub for sure. My deli management skills from the 80s are finally paying off.

Sassy, the food looks so delicious. I love Miss Brown! I've made food like this but on a much small scale. I always try to make sure we have pepperoni on our tray. We love black olives and green olives. We put out a lot of different lunch meats and Italian bread and always rye bread too. I almost always make a side dish of pasta salad to go with my lunch meats and cheese. It's always a big hit. I'm wondering if the subs you make count for this type of meal?
