Sassy my first car had been in an old shed throughout WW11. I don't even know how old it was. My second was an Austin 7 it kept trying to steer over the middle line, so I had to progress to an old brown van.

Yes Pat I think some children do not realize the sacrifices that were made to set them up in life. I have seen to many older folk pushed into homes.

Pity you do not live next door A woman who was a bit sweet on me used to bring me blankets . She said some of them were exports for the USA. One she brought was twice the thickness of a normal blanket. I did pay for them, I thought it was best.

I love blankets, not only on the bed but a fuzzy one in each easy chair...to cover my knees or put around my shoulders, or over my feet because I don't wear shoes inside--only when I'm going out.

Well, if it's her money, and her preference, why not? I'm to that
stage now where my children all think they're my parents. I do think parents - like Mrs. Webb - have a right to make their own decisions as long as they are able to manage on their own.

I have never and will never try to keep up with the neighbors.
She needs to learn to be more frugal. Newer is not always better. There are many lessons to be learned throughout your heartfelt story. Nicely done.

A six year old car isn't old to me.
We were driving an 18-year-old car around and was thankful for it. Anything and everything that could have gone wrong with that car is what made us decide to get a new one.
