It's been a long time since I've been in Texas. I do love the Mexican food there and also in New Mexico. I haven't been to Margarita's for eating since coronavirus came upon us. I really miss it, especially for the company I always kept there.

Sadly I like or used to like fish and chips. I slowly am being introduced to a more exotic range..I suppose one has to get used to a different cuisine

I went to a restaurant there and they made the tortillas right there where you could watch while eating. They were so yummy.

Re: Pat_B, Spanish rice, enchiladas, and beans are my favorite.
My hubby was in the Navy in San Diego too. When we lived in Nevada, California, and Arizona, we used to drive to Tijuana and Algodones.

Mama learned to cook Mexican food while living in San Diego - dad
was in the Navy, his ship was there several times in the late 1930s. She used to drive across the border and shop in Tijuana - something she told me years later. I was a little kid at the time and don't remember that - but she did make great Spanish rice.

Re: Re:Yes it is, Goldiec. We have driven through Texas twice.
I don't think I could eat a 72-ounce steak. It's too much meat for me but I know it's good.

Re:Yes it is, Goldiec. We have driven through Texas twice.
They have billboards along the highway featuring bbq joints and 72-ounce steaks offered at various restaurants. That is like 4 1/2 pounds of steak. I can't even eat a 1/2 pound steak unless I am really starving
