Re:
Kabu, where we are they say not to plant until after Memorial Day because of frost. I would love to plant perennials so that we would have them every year but because of our large deer population, they eat a lot of plants to the ground. That is why we have to have a double fence around our garden.

Re: We used to wander the territory and pick wild blackberries, actually
Pat, I did not know the wild blackberries were thought of as noxious weeds. I find that very interesting. If for one minute I thought there was a bear near the woods I would never pick another blackberry. There have been a lot of reports of coyotes on our road. The village is asking for everyone to watch their small animals. They make the most hideous sounds at night.

Our Summer here is very short. it is a good rule to follow to start putting out your small seedlings on May 26th. before that a sever frost or even a snow storm can ruin everything. Over the years, I have planted many perenials so that they just have to come up each year.

We used to wander the territory and pick wild blackberries, actually
the big variety that is considered a noxious weed by so many farmers and fruit growers in Washington & Oregon. Had to keep an eye out for bears at that time, but I imagine that's not much of a problem any longer.

Re: I can't wait to start gardening too.
Sassy, I'm excited to see your Fairy garden this summer. Have you mapped out a plan for it? I'm so glad you got the elderberry. I have mine too and I just bought another bottle. I don't want to run out.

I can't wait to start gardening too.
I have plans to expand my veggies this year, and we are moving our fairy garden to a bigger area. It has outgrown its current location. Thanks for the elderberry suggestion. I bought a big bottle of them yesterday.
