I imagine is is because of a break. You make your money in a holiday where the decorations are recession proof.

They are two holidays that everyone seems to celebrate.
Halloween stores are expensive, but they offer the best costumes. They possibly make enough in one season to survive an entire year. I guess that it goes on the location and the demand for that sort of thing.
