I have never tried steel cut oats, but I have seen them on Food Network.

I see that they are similar to porridge and take a bit longer to cook than regular oatmeal. Since they are cut with steel blades I have to assume that they have more texture than other oats. I can imagine that they would be delicious with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Your description of the steel-cut oats gave me the idea for what I'm

fixing for breakfast. Love them with brown sugar & dash of cinnamon, too. Delicious and so healthy. I think there's a psychology to falling asleep these days. If I try too hard the tension keeps me awake, so I tell myself I'm watching the news or a show on my bedroom tv - set the timer to automatically turn the TV off in an hour or so. Any stretch of sleep long enough to allow dreaming is a real treat these days.

I use the night blinders. Helps immensely.

Ciel, I was watching a show on the Food Network and they were making steel-cut oats. It's funny I watched the show this morning and then you posted this.  I'm thinking about trying steel-cut oats. We don't get many days with the sun during this time of year but this morning it was shining brightly. I was so excited because it's been so dreary here.  My grandson is here and we are enjoying his company.  He was telling us all about his cat.  She had five kittens.  I asked him what they were going to do with the kittens and he said after 10 weeks they had friends that wanted them.
