Re:
FSI, thanks for sharing this memory. I would have loved to see the bird by your parent's front door.

It was funny. Years ago, there was a bird hanging out in my parents' front door Christmas wreath. I got hit by the bird several times when coming in with Dad. He never saw it happen. Finally, he did, LOL.

Anib, it really is delightful to see the birds enjoying their food. I had such a nice time yesterday.

Re:
Kabu, being careful is very important in the ice and snow. It's so easy to fall and get very badly hurt. It's so nice that you think of the birds and squirrels. I think we all do. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Pat, thank you so much for saying this because I was thinking they would have had a nice treat on New Year's. I wish you could have seen all the little birds on the wreath. They loved it.

Re:
Taps, I'm sorry to hear about your trees being cut down. When we lived at our other house there was a big tree in front of the house and the city came along and cut it down. To this day I miss that big tree.
Birds can make a mess but fortunately, we put the birdhouses out in the yard, and whatever mess they make just falls on the ground and the squirrels come along and eat it. Sometimes the deer come too. Thank you so much for your comment!

These days because I have to be careful on my own about ice and deep snow, I lay a trail of seeds from a big bag and everyone gets their shate, birds and squirrels.

I think putting it up today was the right idea. Lots of little diners would
have gone hungry otherwise.

I love feeding the birds and watching them feed, but in the last few years two trees close to our balcony have been cut down and there is nowhere close now to hang anything. They make such a horrible mess on the balcony I took the one down there.
