You can get the city to do that kind of thing? Hmmm...will have to look into that here, but for gravel, not concrete.

Hooray for Pat_B. An awful lot of neighbors become unneighborly arguing over things like this. I commend you for taking up any slack, probably even with a smile.

There are too many fly-by-night contractors who will take your money and run after they have performed shoddy workmanship.

Re: Re: Goldiec
Pat, I totally agree with you. I also like having the workers bonded and a guarantee with their work.

Crossing my fingers for 2021 to be as good as 2020 was bad.
You are a great neighbor. It is nice when everyone comes together for a joint project that upkeeps the property. We had to mend our sidewalk last year. The concrete has chipped and pocked away from our salting it during snowstorms. I guess it is the price to pay versus slipping and falling. Hopefully, they will be sending out the $2,000 per person, but I am happy with whatever they send. I plan to save mine for a much-needed trip home at the beach after the COVID has been put to rest.

Re: Goldiec
I realize hiring union or licensed craftsmen is more expensive at the start, but having it done right is much cheaper in the long run. A non-licensed handyman may do a great job, but chances are better than 50-50 it will have to be done again after real complications.

I was asking Roy this morning if he had heard anything about how much the stimulus checks will be but evidently, they are going to vote on it. I'm hoping for a higher amount because I need a new roof. I know what you mean about work being done up to city code. That is exactly why I went through the Illuminating company when we had the electricity done. It was more expensive but we passed the city code and the county code and I sent all my paperwork to my insurance company. Everyone said I could get it cheaper somewhere else but who knows what kind of job they would have done. I just didn't want to take a chance. I think you are very smart to do it your way.
