Oh definitely let them get it down for you. No need to hurt yourself or break the bowl. Can you post a pic of it?

What a delightful story! I love red glass. Your bowl must be beautiful.  What a great idea to use it today. Enjoy your day. Merry Christma, Pat.

Merry Christmas

Thanks for sharing a memory about your family.  I loved it.  The Ruby Bowl sounds beautiful.  It will make Christmas dinner extra special.  I hope you enjoy your sons and that you all have a Merry Christmas!  We have a green Depression pitcher that's so pretty and it sits in the buffet. I have a set of really nice salt cellars but I never use them.  The kids wouldn't know what they were. They are clear glass and you are supposed to place a little salt in each one.  Merry Christmas!

That is a nice memory and an even more beautiful family treasure.

That red depression glass is really quite elegant. It is the perfect serving bowl for a Christmas feast. I have a vintage red bowl that my mother-in-law gave to me after I married her middle son. It belonged to her mother.
