Hard call. We have a policy here - always feel free to exchange anything and we won’t get out feelings hurt. After all, the idea of a gift is to please someone. She probably thought you’d like them.

Ask your other daughter, the one who is so caring of her for I have no Idea. Is it a reminder that you used to make the big meals and why don't you now. I don't think that I could do a big meal for a crowd these days either.

You might as well just laugh. That's what I would do. Whenever I try to cook something from scratch these days, it is inedible....and I used to be a good cook. My pots, pans, fancy dishes are just in the way. If I didn't need to eat healthy-like, I would just have ice cream, cheetos and coffee.

I do hope you find a place for your new kitchen gifts. I know what you mean though because I don't think I have room for anything in my kitchen cabinets. They are full now.

Maybe donate your old pots and pans etc to charity and use what she sent. Then send a very appreciative note stating now your kitchen is complete with of the new updates.

Re: Re: Not at all stubborn. You just know what you like.
I understand the storage issue. I have that same problem. Maybe a conversation with her describing what you need and do not need would help out. My three girls continue to buy me kitchen gadgets regardless of how much I tell them that I am overstocked. Maybe it is a "daughter" thing.

Re: I'd say that the time has come to change your kitchen décor.
Sassyass, I like my kitchen decor just the way it is. The teal utensils, etc. would go fine in it - but I have NO storage space for the new stuff, and no desire to make room for it. I guess that makes me stubborn, set in my ways and probably ungrateful. But I am very thankful she wants to take good care of me and tries to anticipate what I want and need.

I think Pat I would safely store it away. You could encourage her to use it when she calls to visit.

I'd say that the time has come to change your kitchen décor.
The cooking shows with their celebrity chefs have caused a big hype where kitchen accessories are concerned. I just got teal-colored Pioneer Woman dishes & glasses for Christmas. I also have plenty of cookware & chef knives that include Paula Deen, Guy Fieri, Pioneer Woman, Martha Stewart, and Rachel Ray. My kitchen is red and hunter green, end embellished with apples everywhere. For whatever reason, the teal is blending in. Have fun with it, and good luck.
